Scope and Contents
Consists of a presentation keepsake book, signed by Edward Vischer, San Francisco, Christmas, 1875, to Mary Virginia Hilton ("Mrs. William Hayes Hilton"), who was married to California artist William Hayes Hilton (1829-1909). The album includes four original pencil sketches with gouache, a portrait photograph of Vischer by Carleton Watkins, three Eadweard Muybridge photographs of missions at Monterey and Santa Barbara, and a photograph of the mission at San Juan Capistrano by Vischer.
