Scope and Contents Consists of a document signed by Samuel Fales as Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas for Bristol County ordering the Sheriff of Bristol to seek fifteen pounds from Luther Lincoln of Taunton, Massachusetts, a free African American man who is described in the document as a "Negroman & Labourer," or hold him until a court date the following month.
